The Ortman Technique: The Whole Body Treatment

The Ortman method of manipulation involves the entire spine. Known as The Ortman Technique, it has given relief to tens of thousands of people from all over the country. The Ortman Clinic doctors are trained to detect abnormal pressure in the muscles, tendons and joints of the body. Once an abnormal pressure point, or an area of abnormality, is found, it is treated and relieved by the use of deep thumb pressure to the specific area or areas. This "adjustment," in turn, takes pressure off the nerves. When the pressure is gone, the pain or discomfort is greatly relieved or in many cases, gone completely.

Here at The Ortman Clinic, we work to restore the integrity of your body's muscular, skeletal and nervous systems. We use our own technique to relieve muscle spasms and allow the bones to re-align so there isn't any snapping or cracking of the joints. The treatment is given while you are sitting on a stool so we can tell which erector muscles of the back are tight, as when you're sitting, standing and walking in everyday life. This means you will not have to lie on a table unless we are testing a muscle or using therapy. The treatments are given through your light layers of clothing, so you don't need to change into a gown.

Our unique treatment has proved to be very effective in relieving symptoms, as well as in achieving a comfortable feeling of "well being" for the vast majority of our patients.

Why is the Ortman technique so special?

This technique is a form of manipulation which has been passed down thru the Ortman lineage for over 90 years. It is a hands on approach, administered to the patient in a sitting position. It involves a method that utilizes deep thumb pressure to the patient's problem area. This procedure is not a standard forceful chiropractic adjustment. It is instead, a steady use of specific pressure to the involved area which conforms to basic principles of chiropractic healing.
